Chum Ngek leads several ensembles including:

Pounleu Duong Chan (Moonlight) Ensemble

Pounleu Duong Chan represents the future of Master Chum’s exquisite, unique, and unparalleled performance style. With the support of a Taproot Fellowship, seven of Chum Ngek’s most promising students started apprenticeships with him in August 2025 to intensively study core pieces of Homrong, a series of twelve sacred songs that are pivotal to the pin peat tradition. The members of Pounleu Duong Chan are Sopheak Chhon, Edward Chittchang, Dorian Prasith, Anthony Samson, Thomson Sek, Sovatha Sin, and Jasmine Thach.

The Taproot Fellowship is a project of The Alliance for California Traditional Arts’s (ACTA)’s Taproot Artists & Community Trust created to honor 25 traditional artists across the U.S. and Territories who embody ancestral knowledge and act as community leaders, healers, and agents of cultural continuity.
